Job Summary and QualificationsDraws blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes. Assembles equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection tubes, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for specified tests. Verifies and records patient identity and converses with patient to explain procedures and allay fear of procedure.What qualifications you will need:You will promote consistent and positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.You will perform specimen collection while following the established policies and procedures of the Clinical Laboratory.You will instruct patients on proper specimen collection procedures.You will work efficiently and communicate effectively under stressful conditions and time constraints.You must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information.You will practice good infection control by hand washing, wearing personal protective equipment, for the protection of patient and self while maintaining a neat, well-kept work areaBasic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateWhat qualifications you will need:Licensure/Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy certificate preferredEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: One-year hospital experience (including venipuncture experience) preferred.Familiarity with a hospital laboratory is desired. Doctors Hospital of Augusta, part of HCA Healthcare, is a 350-bed hospital that provides a wide range of medical services. It is known for its 24/7 emergency care, Level II Trauma Center, Burn Center, advanced heart care, and Baby-Friendly maternity services. The hospital also offers surgery, women's imaging, and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and it accepts most insurance plans. It is located at 3651 Wheeler Road in Augusta, Georgia.The hospital provides 24/7 emergency care with a Level II Trauma Center and full stroke care, as well as a nationally recognized Burn Center that is one of the largest in the country and offers advanced wound care. It also delivers advanced heart care for patients experiencing heart attacks. In addition, the hospital supports maternity and women's health with a Baby-Friendly designation, a Level II NICU, and a certified Women's Diagnostic Center.
