Responsibilities:
In this role the The Phlebotomy/EKG Technician will perform the following job duties:
- Provide direct and indirect inpatient and outpatient care services including phlebotomy, ECG testing and transportation of patients.
- Verify patient identification by using two patient identifiers: Name, DOB or Medical Record Number but never identifies patient by room number.
- Label all specimens in front of patient with required information, EMR ID, date and time of collection.
- Blood is drawn according to established hospital procedures in a safe manner with minimum trauma to the patient.
- Monitor for adverse effects of blood draws.
- Compliant with all safety standards and utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Understand and apply knowledge of test specimen requirements and utilizes available reference materials to ensure that all specimens are collected correctly.
- Resolve unusual test orders by contacting the appropriate healthcare provider and notifying fellow staff and/or management of unresolved orders
- Maintain annual required competency training and provides necessary support to maintain proper equipment function.
- Understand and apply knowledge of test specimen and policy requirements and utilizes available reference materials to ensure that all specimens and exams are collected correctly.
- Resolve unusual test orders by contacting the appropriate healthcare provider and notifying fellow staff and/or management of unresolved orders.
- Adhere to the proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintains adequate supply levels through the use of accurate inventory control.
- Provide efficient transportation for patients both to and from requesting service areas.
- Utilize selected healthcare IT applications proficiently as assigned by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management within job scope.

Qualifications:
Education/Training
Required:High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
Required: One (1) year Cardiovascular or Phlebotomy
Preference: EEG experience
Certificates/Licenses/Registration
Required: Post-Employment: BLS provided by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire
