Phlebotomist Floater - 1st Shift

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Rate: $19.85 $21.80 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: 6:30 AM 4:00 PM, Monday Friday; 8:00 AM 12:00 PM every other Saturday
  • Travel Requirements: Coverage required at multiple locations throughout the Philadelphia, Montgomery County, and Lower Bucks County area
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist Floater represents the face of the company to patients who come in both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The Phlebotomist Floater draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The Phlebotomist Floater has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. The Phlebotomist Floater is responsible for providing coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles. The Phlebotomist Floater must ensure that daily activities of the Patient Service Center/Mobile/Long Term Care/In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time. The Phlebotomist Floater demonstrates Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy to patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to work and direct daily activity in a doctor's office, a patient service center, in a house call environment, long term care, or as business needs dictate. Must be able to step in for a lead Phlebotomist and lead one or more PSR on site. Will be required to act as a coach, mentor, instructor, resource advisor for new employees and provide effective onboarding services to new clients. They will also act as point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor. The Phlebotomist Floater may also focus on working with customers who have a high complexity and/or volume practice with a specialized focus requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills. In addition, these practices require a higher level of customer-facing skills including verbal and written communications, problem solving, and collaboration with multiple functions, such as: Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics due to their specialty and/or complex test orders. The Phlebotomist Floater must be capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Preferred Skills

  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred)
  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
  • Pennsylvania (Penna.) state credentials/licenses required

Required Experience

  • Five years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP (Patient Service Center / In-Office Phlebotomy) environment preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Overtime required
  • Weekend availability required (every other Saturday)
  • Assignment locations may include a doctor's office, patient service center, house call environment, long-term care facility, or other sites as business needs dictate
  • Multi-location float coverage required throughout the Philadelphia, Montgomery County, and Lower Bucks County area
  • COVID vaccination required
