Actalent is Hiring a Phlebotomy Technician

Job Description

This Laboratory Technician role focuses on providing high-quality clinical support in a busy outpatient clinic setting. You will perform medical intake procedures, collect and process specimens, administer immunizations and injections, and support both clinical and front desk operations. The position offers a collaborative team environment, opportunities to build strong patient relationships, and potential for permanent employment upon successful completion of the contract.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medical intake procedures, including obtaining vital signs and collecting patient history in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Record and report patient symptoms, reactions, treatments, and any changes in condition to support timely and appropriate care.
  • Administer immunizations and injections in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards.
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including blood draws and venipuncture, ensuring proper specimen collection, handling, and labeling.
  • Document all aspects of patient care thoroughly and accurately in the appropriate medical records and systems.
  • Complete medical prior authorization and related documentation requirements to support patient access to services.
  • Collaborate closely with clinic team members to coordinate patient services and ensure a seamless care experience.
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and professional experience for every patient, demonstrating strong customer service skills.
  • Assist with front desk tasks as needed, which may include patient check-in, scheduling, and answering patient inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with clinic policies and healthcare regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in performing medical intake procedures, including vital signs and patient history collection.
  • Demonstrated ability to record and report patient symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in condition accurately.
  • Experience administering immunizations and injections in a clinical setting.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including blood draw and venipuncture, with attention to specimen collection and handling.
  • Ability to document patient care thoroughly and accurately in medical records.
  • Experience completing medical prior authorization and related documentation.
  • Effective collaboration skills to work closely with clinic team members and coordinate patient services.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to create a warm, welcoming experience for patients.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
  • CPR certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification within 6 months of hire if not already certified.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or laboratory environment.
  • Comfort assisting with front desk tasks, including patient check-in and scheduling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols and documentation standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment and manage multiple tasks.

Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite in a clinic located in Oakland Park. The position is part-time at approximately 20 hours per week, with a regular schedule of Tuesday through Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. You will work as part of a supportive clinic team that values strong collaboration and a positive, patient-focused culture. The environment is hands-on and clinical, involving regular patient interaction, specimen collection, and coordination with other healthcare professionals. The clinic promotes a great team culture onsite and offers the potential to transition to a permanent role upon successful completion of the contract.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $10.00 - $23.00/hr.
