The Phlebotomist I is responsible for safely and efficiently collecting venous and capillary blood samples and a variety of other specimen types from pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing approved techniques for diagnostic testing. This role ensures proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and adherence to infection control and safety protocols. The incumbent collaborates with nursing, laboratory, and other clinical staff to provide timely and accurate specimen collection, supporting quality patient care and laboratory operations. The Phlebotomist performs other laboratory duties including use of the laboratory computer system, answering phones, receiving patients, communicating laboratory data to ordering parties, maintaining a filing system, and providing data collection support. As needed,
the phlebotomist will put in rotation staffing at GRH draw stations.
Qualifications:
Phlebotomist I
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required or obtain within three (3) months of hire
• Prior experience in a hospital, clinical, or high-volume laboratory setting preferred.
Phlebotomist II
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited organization (e.g., CPT, NCPT, or ASCP) required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required or obtain within three (3) months of hire.
• Prior experience in a hospital, clinical, or high-volume laboratory setting preferred.
