Job Title: Phlebotomist I – 1st Shift
Position Type: 3-Month Contract
Location: Saugerties, NY 12477
Shift: Monday–Friday, 1:30 PM – 9:00 PM; Rotating Saturday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Job Description:
  • The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization by providing exceptional patient care during specimen collection. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, processing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort while following established procedures and quality standards.
  • Working under the supervision of the area manager, the Phlebotomist I performs specimen collection and processing accurately, maintains patient records, and upholds confidentiality while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages, including Pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Process, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Verify patient identification and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection following established procedures.
  • Maintain specimen integrity and comply with safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service while creating a positive patient experience.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Support additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Excellent venipuncture skills, including Pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Specimen processing experience is required.
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA).
