Job Description – Phlebotomist I (1st Shift)
Job Title: Phlebotomist I – 1st Shift
Location: Stamford, CT
Duration: 3+ Months (Potential Extension)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Stamford, CT. The Phlebotomist serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients and ensuring a positive experience throughout the specimen collection process. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples, processing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate patient records while adhering to established protocols, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients using proper venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures and helping patients feel comfortable and confident throughout the collection process.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties according to established procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Operate independently while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Demonstrate professionalism and promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Support process excellence initiatives and demonstrate strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Keyboarding and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other relevant medical training.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience.
- Previous customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service-related environment.
