Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Alameda, CA, US
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
Pay Rate: $22.90 - $28.30/hour
Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with rotating Saturdays (Pacific Time)
 
Job Summary
  • The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization for patients visiting the facility. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring a positive patient experience through professional, compassionate, and accurate service.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established procedures and protocols.
  • Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Verify patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and confidentiality standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service while creating a comfortable and professional patient experience.
  • Complete assigned daily activities accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization with patients, clients, and colleagues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
  • Strong blood draw and specimen collection skills.
  • Experience with data entry and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience drawing blood from paediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related medical training.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
