Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist I to join our team in Fort Myers, FL. The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization for patients and is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires excellent phlebotomy skills, strong patient interaction abilities, and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and confidentiality.
The ideal candidate will create a positive patient experience by demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and technical expertise while performing specimen collection and processing duties.
Key Responsibilities
Collect high-quality blood specimens from patients using established procedures and best practices.
Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing.
Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
Ensure all collections are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Maintain required records, documentation, and patient information with a high degree of confidentiality.
Provide exceptional customer service and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence for patients.
Explain testing procedures clearly and professionally to patients.
Perform daily tasks accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related medical training preferred.
Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience
Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Experience drawing blood from pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients preferred.
Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment preferred.
Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
Required Skills
Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.
Ability to provide accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
