Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Collect, label, process, and prepare clinical and forensic specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols.
  • Verify patient information and maintain accurate documentation to ensure specimen integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and creating a comfortable and professional experience.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
  • Follow safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Perform daily operational activities accurately and within established turnaround times.
  • Support laboratory operations through specimen handling, data entry, and record maintenance.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors, professionalism, and commitment to process excellence.
  • Promote a positive organizational image when interacting with patients, clients, healthcare providers, and the public.
  • Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
  • Proficiency in specimen collection, processing, and handling procedures.
  • Strong data entry, computer, and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a high-volume, fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related healthcare training.
  • Phlebotomy Certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood collection.
  • Previous customer service experience in healthcare, retail, or service environments.
