Job Title: Phlebotomist I

Location: Pensacola, FL
Duration: 3+ Months (Potential Extension)
Shift Schedule:

  • Wednesday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Saturday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist I to join our team in Pensacola, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while performing blood collection and specimen processing procedures. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality, accuracy, and safety. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment and delivering excellent customer service to patients of all ages.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collect high-quality blood specimens from patients using established venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
  • Prepare, process, label, and package specimens accurately for laboratory testing.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Verify patient information and ensure accurate documentation and record maintenance.
  • Explain collection procedures to patients and help create a comfortable, professional, and trusting environment.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and company guidelines.
  • Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and maintain a positive image with patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
  • Utilize keyboarding and data entry systems to accurately enter and manage patient information.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards and safety protocols at all times.
  • Support staffing needs through flexibility in scheduling, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other formal medical training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in certain states, including California, Nevada, and Washington).

Experience

  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • One (1) or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Experience collecting blood specimens from pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred.
  • Data entry and keyboarding experience required.
