Job Description: Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) Location: Ruskin, FL Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension) Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Off: Thursday & Sunday) Position Overview The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and care. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection and ensuring proper handling and processing for laboratory testing. The PSR I plays a critical role in delivering an excellent patient experience by maintaining a safe, accurate, and compassionate environment, while adhering to all established procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols Ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation of all specimens Provide clear and empathetic communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection when required Accurately maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with company policies Follow all safety, confidentiality, and compliance standards (HIPAA, etc.) Work independently under the direction of the area supervisor Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public Required Skills & Competencies Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision High level of accuracy and commitment to quality Basic computer and data entry/keyboard skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Education Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred) Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred) Required in California, Nevada, and Washington Experience Requirements Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required) 1+ year of phlebotomy experience (Preferred) Prior customer service experience in retail or service environment (Preferred) Data entry or administrative experience (Required) Work Schedule & Flexibility Must be flexible with scheduling, including: Weekends Holidays On-call shifts Overtime as needed Key Attributes Patient-focused with a compassionate approach Professional and reliable Detail-oriented with strong accuracy Commitment to maintaining confidentiality Team-oriented with a positive attitude
