Job Title: Phlebotomist I Duration: 7+ Months (Possibility of Extension) Location: Tallahassee, FL Shift: EST | Monday – Friday: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Saturday: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Position Overview
We are seeking a Phlebotomist I to join our Patient Services team in Tallahassee, FL. In this role, you will serve as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures accurately and safely.
Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols.
Ensure specimen integrity and maintain accurate documentation and records.
Provide exceptional patient care while creating a positive and professional experience.
Explain collection procedures clearly to patients and address questions or concerns.
Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and confidentiality standards.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Complete assigned tasks accurately and within established timelines under the guidance of the Area Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
Strong blood collection skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with computer systems, keyboarding, and data entry.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patient populations.
Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment.
