Job Summary

Responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens for laboratory testing using established phlebotomy procedures for patients of all age groups. Ensures accurate patient identification, proper specimen labeling, handling, and transport while maintaining compliance with safety and HIPAA regulations. Communicates effectively with patients and care teams to support a positive patient experience, troubleshoots routine issues, and may assist with training new staff and students as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in specimen collection and processing, including proper tube selection, specimen volume, and stability requirements. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing workloads. • Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to patient privacy, dignity, and respect. • Strong problem-solving abilities, including the ability to manage complex patient collections. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience cannot be substituted in lieu of the required education.

Experience

1-2 years of phlebotomy experience required.

Licenses and Certifications (Preferred)

National Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician
