Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: Covington, LA
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timing: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM


Position Overview

The Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II - PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients and ensuring a high standard of care during specimen collection. This role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all patient interactions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, customer service skills, and a commitment to process excellence while fostering patient trust and confidence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily phlebotomy activities accurately and within established timelines under the supervision of the area manager.
  • Collect and process blood specimens (venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, and geriatric draws) following established protocols.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and verify demographic information prior to specimen collection.
  • Obtain patient signatures post-procedure to confirm correct specimen labeling.
  • Prepare, label, and handle specimens for laboratory testing with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain required records, documentation, and logs.
  • Operate within safety guidelines to maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating procedures clearly and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and uphold organizational values and standards.
  • Travel to multiple locations (Patient Service Centers, physician offices, etc.) as required based on business needs.
  • Adapt to schedule changes, including coverage needs, on-call, weekends, holidays, and overtime if required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
  • Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, WA)

Work Experience

  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (Required)
    • Experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
  • Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (Preferred)
  • Customer service experience (Retail/Service industry highly preferred)
  • Data entry and basic computer/keyboard skills
