Job Title: Phlebotomist II – Float

Location: Cape Coral, FL
Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM; Saturday, 6:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II – Float to join our team in Cape Coral, FL. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients while performing high-quality specimen collection and processing services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills, strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

As a Float Phlebotomist, you will travel between multiple patient service centers and physician offices as needed, ensuring timely and accurate specimen collection while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, geriatric, and routine blood collections following established procedures.
  • Accurately collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Verify patient demographics and ensure specimen labeling accuracy in the presence of the patient.
  • Obtain patient signatures and maintain required documentation in compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Ensure a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
  • Provide compassionate care while building trust and confidence with patients during specimen collection procedures.
  • Maintain specimen integrity and follow all clinical and forensic collection procedures.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and demonstrate organizational leadership behaviors.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, confidentiality requirements, and dress code guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Travel between multiple facilities and provide coverage at Patient Service Centers (PSC) and In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) locations as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including:
    • Pediatric collections
    • Geriatric collections
    • Capillary collections
  • Strong specimen collection and processing skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or related medical training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in certain states as applicable).
  • Previous experience working in a Patient Service Center (PSC) environment preferred.
  • Retail or service industry customer service experience strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Reliable personal transportation is required.
    • Public transportation, rideshare services, or being dropped off by others are not considered reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to travel between multiple work locations with minimal notice.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and varying schedules based on business needs.
  • Strong attendance record and punctuality are essential.
  • Ability to remain for the entirety of assigned shifts.
  • Mileage reimbursement is available for travel between assigned work locations (not from home to work).
