Description

Job Title: Phlebotomist II - FloatJob Description

The primary responsibility of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in various duties including troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of specimen collection and processing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
  • Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
  • Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary.
  • Collect and store specimens in accordance with established procedures.
  • Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with both straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Understand and fulfill all physician orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
  • Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
  • Minimum of 6 months" experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in phlebotomy, blood draw, venipuncture, specimen collection, and specimen processing.
  • Customer service skills with experience in pediatrics and geriatrics.

Work Environment

The work schedule is from 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday, depending on the location covered. Flexibility is required as candidates may be asked to cover different times as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Happy Valley, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $23.11/hr.
