Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) to support patient specimen collection and processing. The ideal candidate will have strong venipuncture skills, excellent patient-service abilities, and experience working with Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
The Phlebotomist II serves as a key point of contact for patients and is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, accurately processing and labeling samples, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection accurately and safely.
Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures.
Perform Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain required signatures/initials following specimen collection.
Ensure specimens are properly labelled in the patient's presence and verify accuracy of patient information.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and processing.
Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service to patients.
Explain collection procedures clearly and help create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and confidentiality standards.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail and process excellence in a high-volume environment.
Work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
Support multiple patient service centers and/or in-office phlebotomy locations as business needs require.
Travel between locations and work flexible hours when needed, including occasional weekends, holidays, on-call coverage, and overtime.
Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, clients, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
Demonstrate strong customer service, communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
Experience with Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collections.
Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and patient-service skills.
Keyboarding and data-entry experience.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and accurately handle sensitive information.
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, when applicable.
Flexibility to travel between multiple work locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
