Job Title: Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II)

Location: San Antonio, TX
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timings: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (1-hour lunch)


Job Summary

The Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II – PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients in clinical settings. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and accurate specimen handling. The PSR II plays a key role in delivering excellent patient care, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with established procedures and standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary collections on patients (including pediatric and geriatric populations) using proper techniques.
  • Accurately collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Verify patient identity and demographic information prior to specimen collection.
  • Ensure patient acknowledgment/signature post-procedure to confirm accurate labeling.
  • Maintain proper documentation and required records for all procedures performed.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and compliance guidelines.
  • Create a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients.
  • Communicate procedures clearly to patients to ensure trust and comfort.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection as required.
  • Demonstrate organizational values and maintain a positive image with patients, clients, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to company policies including dress code, health & safety, and operational standards.
  • Travel between locations (patient service centers, physician offices) as needed.
  • Support operational needs including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime when required.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
  • Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, WA)

Work Experience

  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (Required), including:
    • Pediatric collections
    • Geriatric collections
    • Capillary collections
  • Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in customer service or retail settings (Highly Preferred)
