Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist II to join our team in a fast-paced hospital environment. The role offers consistent schedules with shifts from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM or 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. This position presents an excellent opportunity to gain or expand hospital experience while working alongside a collaborative clinical team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples while recording maintenance data.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, including blood, urine, and fecal samples.
  • Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow all physicians" orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure correct labeling.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations, and attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results when needed.

Essential Skills

  • Phlebotomy experience with a minimum of 6 months in a hospital or high-volume lab.
  • Proficiency in performing venipuncture and specimen collection on diverse patients.
  • Ability to accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for transport and testing.
  • Experience with straight needle and butterfly techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail with specimen labeling and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills, including EMR and Microsoft Office.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (depending on state requirements).
  • Comfortable performing multiple daily draws in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
