JOB SUMMARY:
Provides clerical and phlebotomy support for the clinic and hospital laboratory.
Schedule:
- 0.5FTE (20 hours)
- Variable Shifts and Hours
- Weekend Rotations
Compensation:
- $21.20/hr +DOE
- Shift Differentials

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtains blood samples by using appropriate venipuncture and/or capillary puncture techniques.
- Labels samples accurately and completely.
- Instructs patients in the proper collection of urine samples.
- Collects samples for Urine Drug testing. Complies with the Department of Transportation guidelines.
- Collects throat and nasopharyngeal samples.
- Processes and accessions samples according to established policies and procedures.
- Processes paperwork for routing samples to the appropriate reference lab.
- Monitors blood collection supply and sample processing supply inventory.
- Distributes lab reports to the appropriate areas.
- Faxes and mails lab reports as needed.
- Answers the phone and transfers calls to the appropriate department.
- Maintains clean, organized work environment.
- Displays professional attributes including but not limited to, punctuality, professional demeanor and presentation; cooperation with peers, other healthcare workers and patients.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends 90% of laboratory staff meetings.
- Annual completion of all required educational competencies.
- Attending all mandatory in-service classes.
- Maintains current CPR certification.
- Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification and/or a minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
- Ability to treat all information as confidential.
