Job Title: Phlebotomist – Night Shift

Location: Mauston, WI
Job Type: Contract | 13 Weeks | Local & Traveler Accepted
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 7 Shifts On / 8 Shifts Off (Scheduled Between 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations through accurate specimen collection and processing. The ideal candidate will have strong venipuncture skills, excellent patient interaction abilities, and a commitment to maintaining specimen integrity and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger sticks
• Verify patient identity and ensure specimen accuracy
• Conduct drug screening and breath alcohol testing as required
• Review and verify laboratory orders for accuracy and completeness
• Process and prepare specimens according to laboratory standards
• Handle pathology, cytology, bone marrow biopsy, and fine needle aspirate specimens
• Enter patient demographics and maintain accurate documentation
• Print pathology reports and process histology-related documentation
• Follow infection control, laboratory safety, and quality assurance procedures
• Document patient information accurately within the EMR system
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and laboratory staff
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred
• BLS Certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
• Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training Program preferred
• Phlebotomy Certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) preferred
• Valid Driver’s License preferred
• Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures and specimen handling standards
• Intermediate computer proficiency required
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
