Job Summary and Qualifications

 The Phlebotomist uses appropriate safety policies, collects specimens on patients of all ages while maintaining a strong emphasis on patient satisfaction. You serve as a key position of the interdependent team, and hold responsibility for achieving positive patient and departmental outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will promote consistent and positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
  •  You will perform specimen collection while following the established policies and procedures of the Clinical Laboratory.
  •  You will instruct patients on proper specimen collection procedures. 
  • You will work efficiently and communicate effectively under stressful conditions and time constraints.
  •  You must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information. 
  • You will practice good infection control by hand washing, wearing personal protective equipment, for the protection of patient and self while maintaining a neat, well-kept work area

 

What Qualifications you will need:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy certificate preferred
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One year hospital experience (including venipuncture experience) preferred.
  • Familiarity with a hospital laboratory is desired. Medical terminology preferred.
