Are you a compassionate, detail-oriented healthcare professional who enjoys working directly with patients? Cottage Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team.
In this role, you'll play a vital part in patient care by collecting blood and other laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, and proper handling for testing. You'll work closely with patients of all ages, providers, nurses, and laboratory staff to support timely and accurate diagnoses while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
- Verify patient identification and ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation
- Assist and educate patients on proper collection of urine, stool, and other specimens
- Transport and deliver specimens according to laboratory and hospital protocols
- Maintain laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management
- Perform waived testing as appropriate
- Follow infection prevention and safety standards, including proper use of PPE
- Maintain accurate records and quality control procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, providers, and staff
- Collaborate effectively with nursing, medical, clerical, and allied health teams
- Assist with onboarding and training of new staff members
- Support daily laboratory operations and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy training through a formal program or equivalent experience
- BLS certification required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
