Communications Manager - Community Preparedness

Join our dynamic team in the vibrant city of Phoenix, AZ, where you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the communication efforts of the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS). As a Communications Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape the agency's communication strategies, engage with diverse communities, and contribute to public safety and preparedness.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement both internal and external communication strategies.
• Manage external communication channels, including social media, the website, and media relations.
• Draft and publish media releases to announce agency news and critical public information.
• Develop talking points for agency and state leadership.
• Respond to media inquiries and create press kits.
• Develop branding materials and templates for standard work use.
• Coach and assist team members in improving communication skills.
• Represent AZDOHS at conferences, events, and with communities as needed.
• Participate in general AZDOHS staff activities and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Experience in communication, media, and training relations.
• Experience in agency branding.

Preferences:

• Experience in journalism and press releases.
