Join our team and work with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) to support critical communication systems. Job Overview

This is a contract-to-hire position with a projected start date of May 4, 2026, and a duration of 6 months. The position is 100% onsite, and candidates must be local to Phoenix. The State is unable to sponsor any visas, so all candidates must be eligible to convert to a full-time employee.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in the installation and maintenance of digital computer systems and peripheral equipment or telephone station equipment and related systems.
  • Alternatively, two (2) years of experience as a Lead Cable Technician is acceptable.
  • Security clearance is required for this position.

Preferences

  • Education or technical training in electronics, telecommunications systems, or digital computer systems from a recognized trade union, technical school, or accredited college or university can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) certification.
  • BICSI certification.

Role Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule services such as repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance with contractors, vendors, DPS units, and supported agencies.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and complete new, upgrade, and repair projects related to DPS network equipment and sites.
  • Install, remove, modify, maintain, repair, and inventory various communications and electronic equipment for DPS and supported agencies.
  • Install, repair, splice, test, and terminate various forms of telecommunications and electrical wiring and cabling to ensure proper connections between electronic equipment.
