WDAF-TV FOX4 Kansas City is seeking a full-time News Photographer who creates high-quality video content that drives storytelling for broadcast and digital news platforms. This role requires strong storytelling ability, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Shoot video and sound for news reports, including live shots, interviews, and breaking news coverage
Collaborate with reporters, producers, and assignment desk personnel on story development and execution
Set up and execute interviews while capturing strong, relevant b-roll
Edit video for broadcast and digital platforms using non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
Operate live transmission equipment (TVU, Dejero, or similar) as assigned
Assist with newscast editing as part of cross-training
Maintain and properly care for station equipment and vehicles
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills
Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating video recording equipment
Television news photography experience preferred
Proficiency in non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
Strong understanding of visual storytelling, lighting, composition, and audio techniques
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Degree in broadcasting, journalism, or related field preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and severe weather
Operate cameras, computers, and vehicles for extended periods
