Description
Job Title: Social Media Manager/Photographer
Purpose: This position plays a vital role in capturing and promoting the excellence of the Rowan-Salisbury School System and our students through photography and managing our social media presence. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional photography skills, a keen eye for visual storytelling, and a strong understanding of social media platforms. They will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the school system''s image and engage the community through captivating visual content and effective social media strategies.
Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications
Responsibilities:
Photography:
Capture high-quality photographs of students, staff, facilities, events, and other related subjects, ensuring the images represent the school system positively.
Plan and execute on-location and in-studio photo shoots, coordinating with subjects, ensuring appropriate permissions, and managing logistics.
Edit and retouch photographs to ensure visual consistency and quality.
Maintain an organized database of digital assets and ensure proper archiving and cataloging of photographs.
Identify and pull photos for marketing materials or for department needs specific to photo type
Social Media Management:
Develop and implement social media strategies to promote the school system''s mission, achievements, and events.
Create engaging and compelling visual content for various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Monitor and manage social media channels, responding to comments and messages promptly and professionally.
Analyze social media metrics and insights to evaluate performance, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Stay up-to-date with emerging social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure the school system maintains an effective online presence.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with the Communications team to develop visual storytelling concepts and align photography and social media strategies with overall communication objectives.
Liaise with school administrators, teachers, and other staff members to identify photography and social media opportunities and gather relevant information.
Attend school events, meetings, and functions to capture relevant photographs and gather content for social media.
Graphic Design
Create graphics to promote events, job openings, etc.,
Help departments create and organize material into graphic organizers or promotional materials,
Gathers needed information from schools or representatives to promote school functions, such as special events, open houses, etc.,
Assist with special projects from departments at the district level to photograph and promote their initiatives
Event Planning
Assist in planning logistics for events such as the leadership retreat (which she attends to photograph), the back-to-school event, groundbreakings, and special events at Wallace.
Qualifications:
Bachelor''s degree in photography, visual arts, communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Proven experience as a professional photographer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating technical skills, creativity, and versatility.
Proficient in using professional photography equipment, editing software (such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom), and social media management tools.
Solid understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of the education sector or previous experience in a school system or educational organization is preferred.
Familiarity with copyright laws and ethical considerations related to photography in educational settings.
