    Middle School Physical Education/Health Teacher

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educator to join our team as a full-time Physical Education/Health Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for basic physical education and health skills and understanding. Provide a flexible class environment favorable to learning and individual growth. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge sufficient for a solid foundation for higher grade education in accordance with each student's abilities.

    Responsibilities:

    Organize games and challenges to promote physical activity and knowledge among students including teaching health, utilizing curriculum and courses of study approved by the Board of Education.

    Develop motor skills and physical abilities among younger students and proper exercise and eating habits among older students.

    Adjust and apply curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities.

    Instruct healthy life practices, including subjects such as nutrition, sex education, and substance abuse prevention

    Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to achieve a functional learning classroom environment

    Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress

    Establish and utilize productive relationships with parents

    Meet and confer with parents/guardians to discuss their student's progress and objectives

    Maintain accurate and complete student records in accordance with district policies and state requirements

    Enforce administration policies and rules governing assigned students and class activities

    Plan and facilitate class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from these opportunities

    Participate cooperatively with the building principal or other administrator in activities providing for teacher performance evaluations and educator effectiveness in accordance with district policies and state requirements

    Collaborate with other staff members on student achievement and instructional methods

    Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required

    Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests

    Maintain a current education knowledge base through educator networks, educational workshops and professional publications

    Additional duties as deemed appropriate at the sole discretion of district leadership

    Qualifications:

    Valid teaching license to teach grades 5-6 or ability to obtain licensure.

    Strong instructional skills with the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

    Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.
