The Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate physical education program for students in grades K-4. The teacher promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Functions
Plan and implement engaging physical education lessons aligned with district and state standards
Teach fundamental motor skills, movement concepts, and age-appropriate physical activities
Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
Maintain classroom management and ensure student safety at all times
Assess student progress and provide feedback as appropriate
Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student development
Follow established school policies, procedures, and schedules
Supervise students during transitions and designated duties

Ability to work collaboratively with school staff
Working Conditions
Indoor gymnasium and outdoor play areas
Active role requiring standing, walking, running, and demonstrating physical activities
Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field (preferred)
Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching license as required by the state
Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
Knowledge of physical education curriculum and child development
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Must pass required criminal background checks and be free from communicable disease.
