Hazel Park Schools is seeking applicants for a long-term substitute for the position of Physical Education Teacher. The district is served by a caring and professional teaching and other staff providing instruction and support to approximately 3,00 students. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Highly Qualified according to State and Federal Requirements
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate Physical Education (MB)
• Criminal background check required
• Commitment to students, parents/guardians, and staff

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Physical Education teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students in physical education utilizing the district approved curriculum. The teacher also performs instructional and related duties as assigned by the building principal and in accordance with District Policies. The teacher maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents and students.

• Develops weekly and daily instructional plans utilizing district-approved curriculum
• Demonstrates teaching strategies that utilize current best practices
• Ability to adapt lesson plans to accommodate students with disabilities
• Monitors and evaluates students' performance utilizing appropriate assessment tools
• Must complete necessary records correctly and accurately regarding attendance, individual student objectives and grades
• Teaches individual and team sports utilizing current best practice, knowledge of skills/techniques and the physical capabilities of the students
• Can properly store, inventory, and issue equipment and materials used in the physical education program
• Confers with building administrators in resolving student concerns
• Conducts parent/teacher conferences
• Utilizes effective behavioral management techniques to provide a safe and orderly, productive learning environment in the physical education settings.
• Attends building and district wide meetings
• Communicates effectively with parents, staff, and students both verbally and in writing
• Ability to teach K-12 PE
• Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets data related to student achievement specifically physical fitness norms. Ability to effectively communicate the results both verbally and in writing to students, parents, administration, and community groups
