Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to join the team at McKinley Elementary. The ideal candidate will foster a love for physical activity and wellness among students, promoting healthy lifestyles and teamwork through engaging and age-appropriate physical education programs. This full-time position requires a commitment to the development of students' physical skills, confidence, and social abilities in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness, motor skills, and teamwork.
Create lesson plans that are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to the diverse needs of students.
Assess and evaluate students' physical abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
Foster a positive and safe learning environment where students feel comfortable participating and expressing themselves.
Organize and lead physical activities, games, and sports that encourage cooperation and sportsmanship.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate physical education with other subjects and school-wide initiatives.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and ways to support physical activity at home.
Stay updated on best practices in physical education and child development through professional development opportunities.
Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as required to support the overall mission of McKinley Elementary.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
State certification or licensure in Physical Education for elementary education.
Previous teaching experience, preferably in an elementary school setting, is preferred.
Strong knowledge of physical education principles, practices, and techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning styles.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Commitment to promoting health and wellness among students.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
