The Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) has an opening for a full-time Physical/Occupational Therapy & Restorative Aide at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise.

The employee in this position will implement physical and occupational therapy plans and provide personal nursing care to geriatric residents.

Working in this position involves assisting with lifting, transferring and transporting adult residents and related work.

Responsibilities:

Therapy:

  • Implements physical/occupational plans of care to include ambulation, range of motion and exercise classes
  • Assists residents in the safe practice of therapy plan activities and encourages residents to participate in therapy activities
  • Prepares equipment and insures availability of supplies for use in therapy
  • Monitors and records residents' participation, responses, and progress
  • Instructs residents and families in simple treatment procedures

Resident care:

  • Takes and records vital signs
  • Provides personal hygiene care to geriatric residents
  • Lifts, positions, transports, and escorts residents
  • Assists with ambulation and other body movements
  • Feeds residents who require assistance
  • Reports and documents observations made during direct resident care
  • Will provide assistance with transporting residents to and from medical appointments as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Some knowledge of:

  • Body mechanics

Experience:

  • Monitoring and recording progress of residents' therapy
  • Taking and recording residents' vital signs
  • Observing and recording changes in residents' behaviors and symptoms

Certification:

  • Prior to hire applicants are required to have completed competency testing and be eligible for placement on the Board of Nursing state registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION SPECIALTY:

  • Must have a valid regular driver's license
