UPMC Home Health Care is hiring a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant to support Oakland and the surrounding areas!
This position is daylight Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 PM
The Physical Therapist Assistant provides high-quality physical therapy services to home health patients under the direction of a Licensed Physical Therapist, in compliance with Pennsylvania licensure laws, agency policies, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Implement physical therapy treatments and plans of care as established by the Licensed Physical Therapist
Perform ongoing patient observations and communicate progress, changes, and referral needs
Educate patients and families using age-appropriate, culturally sensitive teaching methods
Maintain accurate, timely documentation demonstrating reasonable and necessary care
Collaborate with the care team, case managers, and community resources to support patient outcomes
Adhere to infection control, safety, quality, productivity, and clinical competency standards
Participate in performance improvement activities, staff meetings, and required education
Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and Agency mission, values, and ethics
Promote positive customer relations and patient satisfaction
Additional Expectations
Maintain required HR documentation, attendance, punctuality, dress code, and ID standards
Utilize Agency equipment appropriately and safely
Represent the Agency professionally in clinical, community, and team settings
Must meet one of the following:
Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, or an equivalent foreign or U.S. military program approved by the APTA
Successful completion of the national Physical Therapist Assistant exam
Grandfathered Eligibility (if applicable):
Licensed or otherwise regulated as a PTA in the state of practice
Graduate of an APTA-approved 2‑year PTA program prior to applicable federal deadlines
Licensed or qualified as a PTA prior to December 31, 1977, with a passing proficiency exam
Experience & Requirements
Minimum of 2 years PTA experience (2,000 verified patient-care hours or employment as a PTA for at least 3 of the last 5 years)
Basic computer proficiency in a Windows-based environment (preferred)
Reliable transportation within the service area, valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, and auto insurance
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Automotive Insurance
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Driver's License
