Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide rehabilitation services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will assist patients in improving mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence through individualized therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and mobility interventions.
  • Assist patients with transfers, ambulation, and functional activities.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and report changes to the Physical Therapist.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and home programs.
  • Assist with therapeutic equipment and assistive devices.
  • Maintain accurate treatment documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and facility policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent PTA experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercises, mobility training, rehabilitation techniques, and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in acute care, outpatient, inpatient rehabilitation, SNF, home health, or long-term care settings.
  • Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, post-surgical, or medically complex patients.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
