About the Role:

Provide physical therapy services to students from birth through age 22 in educational settings. You'll conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver direct therapy services to support students' mobility, motor development, and access to their educational environment. This role collaborates closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to maximize student outcomes and independence.

Physical Therapist Key Responsibilities:

Assessments & Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive evaluations for students with genetic, developmental, neurological, and orthopedic conditions using standardized assessment tools such as PDMS-2, BOT-2, and GMFM. Complete observations, evaluations, annual reviews, and triennial assessments to determine educational needs and eligibility.

Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on range of motion, strength, balance, postural control, functional mobility, and adaptive equipment needs. Collaborate with educational teams to support the development of IEPs and IFSPs that align with student goals and educational access.

Consultation & Instruction: Partner with students, families, educators, and related service providers to support motor skill development and functional independence. Develop home programs, provide staff training, and serve as a physical therapy resource throughout the district. May provide mentorship and consultation to support best practices and service delivery.

Data Collection & Documentation: Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including therapy notes, progress reports, annual reviews, and triennial assessments. Ensure services are delivered in accordance with administrative policies, state regulations, and federal requirements.

Time Off Management for Full-Time School Employees: Employees are encouraged to schedule time off during school breaks. Requests will be reviewed and approved by supervisors to ensure minimal disruption to student services.

 

Physical Therapist Qualifications:

· Current Physical Therapist license in the state where services are delivered

· DOJ/FBI Livescan background check required

· TB clearance required

· Must be eligible to work in the United States

· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of school-based therapy services, IEPs, and special education programs preferred

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Physical Therapist Physical Demands:

Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.

Activity: Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
