    Position: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) – Outpatient PT\n

    The Doctor of Physical Therapy provides comprehensive outpatient physical therapy services to patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations. The role involves evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients with a wide range of orthopedic, neurological, musculoskeletal, and functional conditions. Treatment plans are individualized based on each patient’s diagnosis, functional limitations, goals, and medical history.

    Key Responsibilities\n

    • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, including assessment of strength, range of motion, mobility, balance, coordination, gait, posture, pain, and functional limitations.

    \n

    • Develop individualized treatment plans and establish appropriate short- and long-term functional goals.

    \n

    • Provide skilled therapeutic interventions for patients of all ages and across multiple clinical disciplines.

    \n

    • Treat a diverse patient population, including post-surgical, orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, geriatric, chronic pain, balance/fall-risk, and general strengthening and conditioning cases.

    \n

    • Provide rehabilitation following procedures such as joint replacements, orthopedic surgeries, and other surgical interventions.

    \n

    • Address neurological conditions through gait training, balance activities, neuromuscular re-education, strengthening, coordination training, and functional mobility interventions.

    \n

    • Provide pediatric therapy services focused on developmental mobility, strength, balance, coordination, gait, and age-appropriate functional activities.

    \n

    • Implement therapeutic exercise programs to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, mobility, stability, and overall physical function.

    \n

    • Provide manual therapy and other appropriate skilled interventions to improve mobility, decrease pain, and optimize movement quality.

    \n

    • Perform gait and functional mobility training, including use of assistive devices when appropriate.

    \n

    • Monitor patient response to treatment and appropriately progress or modify interventions based on clinical presentation.

    \n

    • Educate patients and caregivers regarding home exercise programs, posture, body mechanics, injury prevention, safety, and strategies to promote independence.

    \n

    • Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, reassessments, and discharge summaries in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

    \n

    • Communicate with physicians, surgeons, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient progress, treatment recommendations, and changes in clinical status.

    \n

    • Assist patients in returning to prior levels of function, work, recreational activities, sports, and community participation.

    Clinical Scope\n

    The outpatient DPT manages a varied caseload that may change from day to day and may include post-operative rehabilitation, orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, neurological rehabilitation, pediatric therapy, balance and fall-risk management, gait abnormalities, chronic pain, weakness and deconditioning, mobility impairments, and general strength and conditioning.

    The position requires strong clinical reasoning, adaptability, communication skills, and the ability to modify treatment approaches based on the needs and presentation of each individual patient. The overall goal is to maximize functional independence, improve quality of life, reduce pain and limitations, and help patients safely return to their desired activities and prior level of function.
