Cooperative Educational Service Agency 10 (CESA 10) is seeking a full-time, school-year (190 days) Physical Therapist. Must have pediatric experience with the ability to function on a professional team serving school-based and Birth to 3 programs. Travel is required. Must have Wisconsin Physical Therapy, DPI Licensure, and a Master's degree. At least two years of experience is preferred.

Physical therapists are responsible for providing school-based and Birth to Three services. School-based physical therapy is a related service provided to help a child benefit from special education. Physical therapy school-based service is determined by the IEP team, which includes the physical therapist. The physical therapist develops and implements interventions, in collaboration with other IEP team members, to promote a student''s ability to safely and independently move or travel to participate in school-related activities (classrooms, stairs, elevators, hallways, restrooms, lunchrooms, playground, transport). School-based physical therapists may provide training to school personnel, parents, and caregivers to facilitate achievement of the child's specific educational and functional goals. Birth to Three physical therapy services are family-focused, typically provided in a child''s home and guided by the Individual Family Service Plan.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations consistent with CESA 10 therapy assessment protocol, prepare written reports of the evaluation findings utilizing the SEEDS format.
  • Participate in meetings: As a member of the IEP/IFSP team, as a member of the therapy staff (required staff meetings); and required CESA 10 meetings
  • Participate in the development of IEP/IFSPs for children found to be eligible for special education or Birth to Three services; help determine if therapy services are necessary for the child to benefit from special education or Birth to Three services; provide IEP-related service information for IEP development.
  • Develop and implement an intervention plan consistent with the IEP/IFSP; intervention plans are updated immediately following the IEP/IFSP meeting when therapy services are continuing. Child''s progress reporting is provided consistently with IEP and in collaboration with the teacher (for ages 3-21) and every 90 days for Birth to Three; discharge summaries are written when therapy services are discontinued.
  • Communicate with the IEP/IFSP team on a consistent basis to collaborate and plan for the child''s needs and progress.
  • Integrates services into a child's natural environment and typical routines/activities in collaboration with other team members. The intervention model embeds services within typical school, family, or community environments and activities and rarely uses a ''pull-out'' model.
  • Travels to provide services in locations consistent with the IEP/IFSP.
  • Provides timely documentation/billing information for services provided: billing and related documentation are completed within seven days of the ''end of month'' cycle; monthly attendance and expenses are documented on the accounting form.
  • Moves and handles children and equipment as detailed in the Physical Demands section of this job description.
  • Provides supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants consistent with the Wisconsin state practice regulations.
  • Provides timely information and response to the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services and Itinerant Services Coordinator as requested.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards of the profession and participate in professional growth activities and continuing education opportunities. Adhere to established rules, regulations, and laws, and work cooperatively to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education agency.
