Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate referred patients and develop individualized physical therapy treatment plans based on physician orders and patient goals.
  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy assessments and administer evidence-based interventions.
  • Develop care plans that promote functional mobility, strength, balance, gait, endurance, and overall independence.
  • Provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate patient care across appropriate age groups.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation for evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge planning.
  • Assign and supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and rehabilitation aides to support efficient patient care.
  • Review and update treatment plans for patients receiving services from support staff.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare staff regarding treatment plans, home exercise programs, and injury prevention.
  • Assist in the orientation of new employees and volunteers.
  • Supervise and evaluate physical therapy students and Physical Therapist Assistant students during clinical affiliations.
  • Regularly assume Charge Therapist responsibilities as needed.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other rehabilitation professionals.
  • Collaborate with California Children's Services (CCS) case managers when appropriate to ensure continuity of care following discharge.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, regulatory standards, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Current California Physical Therapist License or eligibility for California licensure.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based physical therapy practices and patient-centered care.

Experience Requirements

  • Previous Physical Therapist experience is not required.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
