The Physical Therapist in the Pedi Neurosurgery department p a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } rovides professional physical therapy services by evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating orthopedic care, and monitoring patient progress. Educates patients and families on treatment and home exercise programs, promotes community awareness of physical therapy services, supports staff training and orientation, and performs other assigned duties.

Flexible schedule, Monday-Friday, no weekends.

Position Summary:

Provides professional, educational, and clinical skills in organizing and directing physical therapy services and administering treatment programs.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinates all physical therapy and related orthopedic care to ensure appropriate patient treatment.
  • Conducts patient consultation, evaluation, and program planning for all patients.
  • Develops home exercise programs to instruct patients in the required exercise for treatment.
  • Reassesses patient status on an ongoing basis to ensure that treatment goals, plans, and program are appropriate.
  • Communicates effectively with patient/family to ensure knowledge of treatment plan and home exercises.
  • Develops educational programs to increase patient/family and community awareness of physical therapy treatment.
  • Assists in continuing education and orientation or new employees to increase awareness of physical therapy treatments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Physical Therapy (PT) by Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners - Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE) required

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy and four years of experience required Master's Degree in Physical Therapy and two years of experience required Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy and no experience required
Minimum Experience:
4 years required 2 years required Years of experience varies based on education level. required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
