Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to organize and implement physical therapy programs aimed at facilitating rehabilitation. This role involves guiding clients through specific tasks designed to restore, enhance, and reinforce their performance. The goal is to help individuals learn essential skills and functions that promote independence and productivity, ultimately reducing or correcting any pathologies. Additionally, the position includes directing activities that support and maintain overall health.

Essential Competencies
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to evaluate the extent of patients' impairments and their potential for improvement.
  • Develop a comprehensive care plan addressing identified impairments, setting both short-term and long-term measurable treatment goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based treatment techniques, continuously assessing patient responses and adjusting treatments as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient care, education provided to patients and families, and details regarding service units.
  • Oversee and guide supportive staff in their assigned tasks, ensuring their competence in performing these duties.
  • Aim for optimal outcomes for each patient.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess clients, establish suitable treatment goals and methods, implement the physical therapy plan, and manage all related documentation.
  • Apply therapeutic techniques in various areas, including gait, ambulation, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, posture control, sensory awareness, balance, and orientation.
  • Design and fit adaptive devices, providing training to clients on their use, including orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Select appropriate physical agent modalities tailored to each client's needs, physical capabilities, and diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with other rehabilitation team members to determine the most effective therapeutic regimen for each client.
  • Instruct clients on the skills necessary for mobility activities, while evaluating their progress, attitudes, and behaviors related to rehabilitation.
  • Customize treatment programs to align with the unique needs of each client.
  • Actively participate in client care discussions, staffing meetings, and related conferences.
  • Supervise supportive personnel in accordance with state regulations and professional standards.
  • Conduct training sessions and assist in educating medical, nursing, and other staff on physical therapy techniques and objectives.
  • Ensure that clients and their families receive exceptional service in a compassionate environment that acknowledges individual needs and rights.
  • Adapt to staffing needs within the therapy programs as required.
  • Comply with established organizational policies, procedures, and objectives.

Qualifications
  • Current Physical Therapy Licensure in Massachusetts.
Physical Requirements
  • Interact with patients in various circumstances, which may involve exposure to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds.
  • Adapt to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Potential exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens; use gloves, gowns, and masks as necessary.
  • Engage in prolonged standing or walking.
  • Lift, position, transport, and/or transfer patients as needed.
  • Handle supplies and equipment requiring considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
