The Physical Therapist functions as an interdisciplinary team member providing patient assessment/re-assessment, direct patient care and individualized care planning/implementation. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides physical therapy evaluations/treatment to medical/post surgical patients on the Med-Surg and Rehab floor according to policy and procedure and care standards.
  • Completes documentation and charges in a thorough, concise, and timely manner as established by policy and procedure.
  • Ability to take direction from others and follow through in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, families, occupational/physical therapists, nurses, physicians and other team members, etc.
  • Ability to set priorities.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment, expected patient outcome, and anticipated complications.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.

Accountability:

  • Reports to: Therapy Manager, RN Director of ICU, ER and Specialty Services
  • Supervises: PTA’s, Students

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degree as an Physical Therapist
  • State Licensed or eligible for licensure required
  • BLS required, if not currently trained, must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire.

  • Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Medium (exerting 11 to 51 pounds of force frequently (patient treatments), 10 lbs to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects or lifting/carrying 2 to 10 pounds constantly
  • Standing/Walking: Constantly; activity exists 2/3 or more of the time
  • Twisting: Frequently; activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
  • Bending/Stooping: Constantly; activity exists 2/3 or more of the time

Environmental Conditions:

Level: High

  • High exposure to hazardous risks including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, hot, cold, or wet surroundings, outdoor activities, radiation sources, fumes, electrical equipment and chemicals. Hazards will be minimized if universal safety procedures are followed. Must follow standard precautions. May be required to work weekends or flex schedules. Travel may be required. Exposed to weather conditions during travel.
