Job Description
Under close supervision of a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant, perform select patient care tasks and maintain a clean treatment area. The extent to which an aide performs clerical tasks depends on the needs of the facility.
Direct Patient Care Duties:
- Direct ambulatory patients to-and-from treatment areas (including those patients using wheelchairs). Patients identified as fall-risks will be handled by licensed staff.
- Confer with physical therapy staff for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
- Instruct patients performing therapeutic exercises and activities, under direction of therapist staff. Record treatment provided and equipment used.
- Properly fit/position patients on exercise equipment.
- Observe patients during treatment to compile and assess patients' responses and progress, and report to physical therapist.
- Safely administer treatment modalities including electrical stimulation, Micro Current stimulation, ultrasound, cold laser, and the application of ice and heat packs. Be knowledgeable of the function/purpose of these modalities.
- Assist hand therapist with splint making and administering hand therapy exercises.
Non- Patient Care Duties:
- Perform opening / closing duties for the clinic, locking doors and securing the building.
- Responsible for maintaining clinic cleanliness. This includes completing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Maintain clinic equipment and furniture to keep it in good working condition, including performing the assembly and disassembly of equipment and accessories.
- Change linens, such as bed sheets and pillow cases, launder linens and restock rooms.
- Disinfect equipment after treatment.
- Perform basic clerical duties, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18-years of age and have a high school diploma
- Degree in Pre-Physical Therapy coursework or a related field and demonstrating interest in pursuing a career in Allied Health preferred. Equivalent experience or qualifications will also be considered.
- Personable, energetic, and capable of working with a diverse patient population and in a team environment
- Reliable and professional with the ability to place value on and maintain high quality patient care as number one priority.
- Dress in clinic appropriate attire to convey professionalism.
Additional Information
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $17.00- $22.00. Salary is based on various factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other benefits are also available, subject to the terms of the Company''s plan.
