Physical Therapy Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT POSITION

BR Physical Therapy specializes in Pelvic Health, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Foot and

Ankle conditions and Work Conditioning. Some experience or knowledge of Pelvic

Health/Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation would be an asset.

The key responsibilities of a physical therapist assistant at BR Physical Therapy are

listed below. They are in what we believe is the right order of priority.

● The first priority is providing excellent health care for our patients. That means

good outcomes, and patients who are happy with their experience of physical

therapy. The therapist’s key tasks are:

● Maintaining friendly and professional relationships with patients, educating

them as well as treating them;

● Treating patients and discussing their condition with them;

● Supervising aides in clean up and set up tasks and also in providing

modalities for non-Medicare, non-BCBSM patients;

● Evaluating progress and updating goals in conjunction with the PT;

● Discussing patient’s progress and coordinating patient care with supervising

therapist, and deciding whether patient is ready for discharge.

● Writing timely and accurate documentation including progress notes, discharges

and daily notes. We use WebPT software for our EMR documentation to reduce

the effort required for this part of the job, and also help to ensure that the

documentation fully supports and flows seamlessly to our billing, which is also

done by WebPT.

● Achieving a reasonable level of productivity. We understand that this is governed by

referral volume and the types of patient presenting and diagnoses treated, and that figures

will fluctuate from week to week. However, we would expect the PTA to be able to provide

an average of 48 to 50 treatments in a 40 hour week (32 to 35 treatments in a 25 hour

week) with the type of patients we have been seeing.

● Helping develop and improve protocols for the treatment of the most common diagnoses.

● Supporting clinic marketing by attending some physician office lunches with the Clinic

Director.

The Rewards

The salary and benefits package for part time PTAs has 2 key elements.

This is an hourly position and the initial pay will be $26 to $27/hour depending on

experience ($25/hour for a new graduate).
