Work Shift Job Description Outpatient Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) with associated degree and current valid SC Physical Therapy Assistant license to assist in helping patients recover from injuries and regain mobility through:

  • Utilizing appropriate treatment tools and devices needed for patient care.
  • Assessing patients before, during, and after therapy sessions, reporting observations to the supervising Physical Therapist (PT) as necessary.
  • Providing exercise prescription and assistance based on the PTs treatment plan, guiding patients through these exercises ensuring proper form and technique.
  • Utilizing various techniques including stretching exercises, manual techniques within their scope of practice, and massage to treat patients.
  • Provide effective patient education and counseling and provide guidance on exercises and techniques patients can perform at home.
  • Use of EMR system to document treatment sessions and communicate with primary physical therapist.

Additional Job Description Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in physical education, physical therapy, or a related field.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Some positions require CPR certification.

(Frequent) Ability to push/pull objects up to 200 lbs. unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects, depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction. (Continuous) Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. (Continuous) Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically by medical personnel for respirator use initially and annually. (Continuous)
