Position Overview:

The role involves executing physical therapy programs and delivering treatment to clients, aimed at enhancing their independence and functionality, all under the guidance of licensed Physical Therapists.

Core Competencies:

  • Execute the established care plan under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, focusing on addressing patient impairments and working towards both short-term and long-term treatment objectives.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with the primary Physical Therapist regarding patient capabilities and limitations, and report any unexpected changes in patient status immediately.
  • Collaborate with the licensed Physical Therapist to modify treatment procedures based on the patient's evolving condition.
  • Document patient care, education provided to patients and families, and service units accurately and promptly.
  • Aim for optimal outcomes for each patient.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Implement tailored treatment plans as outlined by the primary Physical Therapist.
  • Deliver personalized physical therapy treatments.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist during assessments, evaluations, and complex procedures.
  • Organize and lead treatment groups in collaboration with the Physical Therapist.
  • Work alongside other rehabilitation team members to create programs and activities that align with each client's needs and abilities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation for all clients treated.
  • Participate in client care meetings and other required gatherings as a representative of the Physical Therapy team, under the Physical Therapist's guidance.
  • Adapt to staffing needs within the Therapy Programs as necessary.
  • Follow all established policies, procedures, and objectives of the organization.
  • Exhibit professionalism and uphold values that support the mission of our organization.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality and information.
  • Meet all regulatory and licensure standards.

Qualifications:

  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant licensure in Massachusetts.

Physical Requirements:

  • Engage with patients in various circumstances, which may involve exposure to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds.
  • Adapt to unpredictable situations.
  • Potential exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Use gloves, gowns, and masks as necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking may be required.
  • Involves lifting, positioning, transporting, and/or transferring patients.
  • May require lifting supplies and equipment.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching is necessary.
