This position involves implementing treatment plans designed by physical therapists, assisting patients with therapeutic exercises, and monitoring their progress to ensure optimal recovery outcomes. The PTA works closely with patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, to promote mobility, reduce pain, and improve functional independence. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a safe and hygienic environment by adhering to universal precautions and safety protocols. Ultimately, the PTA contributes significantly to enhancing patients' quality of life through compassionate care and skilled assistance in physical therapy interventions.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
    • Current licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the United States.
    • Basic knowledge of physical therapy principles, rehabilitation techniques, and universal precautions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist physical therapists in executing individualized treatment plans for patients undergoing rehabilitation.
    • Guide and support patients through therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, flexibility, and coordination.
    • Monitor patient responses and progress during therapy sessions, documenting observations and reporting to the supervising physical therapist.
    • Ensure compliance with universal precautions and maintain a clean, safe treatment environment to prevent infection and injury.
    • Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas, including lifting and positioning patients safely as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide education and support throughout the rehabilitation process.
    • Participate in voluntary insurance programs and assist with administrative tasks related to patient care and documentation.

    Skills:

The required skills such as knowledge of physical therapy and rehabilitation techniques are essential for effectively assisting patients with their treatment plans and ensuring their safety during exercises. Universal precautions are applied daily to maintain infection control and protect both patients and staff. Compassion is vital in building trust and encouraging patients throughout their recovery journey, while lifting and carrying heavy weights safely is necessary when positioning or assisting patients. Eye-hand coordination supports the precise execution of therapeutic activities and the handling of equipment. Preferred skills like experience in outpatient settings and familiarity with insurance programs enhance the PTA's ability to navigate administrative tasks and provide specialized care, contributing to a more efficient and patient-centered therapy environment.
