Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant

Unit: Rehab

Employment Type: Per Diem

Shift: days - 8 hours

Position Purpose

Is responsible for aiding the department therapists in patient management, set-up and treatment tasks. Performs support duties to facilitate operations of inpatient, outpatient and Transitional Care Center services. Collaborate with and supports therapists in their daily work schedule. Aides must be aware and utilize the principles of growth and development and prepared to work with patients throughout the developmental spectrum.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

As a Physical Therapy Assistant you will:

  • Assist patients with bed mobility and transfers as instructed by licensed therapist.
  • Assist with positioning of patients for exercise regime or for hydrotherapy treatment.
  • Assist therapist in guarding patient during gait and stair training. Improves patient comfort by ascertaining and meeting needs as appropriate (water, tissue, reading material)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of therapy equipment by name and function.
  • Accompanies patient to and from therapy sessions as assigned. Demonstrates safe and effective use of appropriate patient transport equipment (i.e. WC, c/c)
  • Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of pain scale and effects of pain on patient tolerance and performance.
  • Takes regular inventory of supplies and equipment. Prepares order forms for Department Coordinator/Director for approval and authorization.
  • Orders routine supplies as assigned.
  • Stocks treatment areas with appropriate supplies (gym, hydrotherapy, satellite and TCC). Maintains linen supply.
  • Answers phone and manages reception desk in absence of department receptionist as assigned.
  • Enters patient charges in computer as assigned. Performs routine copying and other clerical duties as trained and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Physical therapy experience required

Pay Range: Include Salary Range ($26.42-34.34)

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

0.4 FTE (16 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)
