POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant uses physical treatment procedures to help improve mobility and relieve pain and disability in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Pender Community Hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs treatment related tasks assigned by Physical Therapist in accordance with certification by the State of Nebraska.
  • Schedules patients for therapy and evaluations.
  • Provides input and assistance in buying materials and supplies for the department.
  • Provides and sets up patients with home health care supplies.
  • Keeps monthly statistics or other departmental duties as instructed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Applies Physical Therapy modalities to patient as directed in plan of care.
  • Documents assessment, treatment goals, and plan of care according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulations and fiscal changes to optimize organizational resources.
  • Assures the safety and efficacy of equipment used to provide rehab services.
  • Assists with maintaining clean and safe treatment areas and equipment.
  • Assists with changing linens and maintaining linen supply in department as necessary.
  • Assists with maintaining clean and safe treatment including dressing/undressing, donning/doffing equipment, braces, etc. if appropriate as well as positioning as directed by Physical Therapist.
  • Performs Clinical Instructor duties for PTA students/interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations

  • Current/Active license to practice in the State of Nebraska
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
