Job Summary and Qualifications

A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). Their goal is to restore patient mobility, manage pain, and help individuals regain daily independence following illness, surgery, or injury.  

Core Responsibilities 

• Therapeutic Interventions: Guide patients through prescribed stretching, strengthening exercises, and functional mobility training 

• Modalities: Administer clinical treatments like heat, ice, or electrical stimulation to decrease pain and inflammation 

• Patient Education: Instruct patients and their families on home exercise programs and the safe use of assistive devices like walkers or crutches 

• Progress Monitoring: Track patient response to treatments, document notes accurately in electronic medical records, and update supervising PT's 

• Team Collaboration: Work alongside PTs, nurses, and other multidisciplinary staff to support an integrated care plan 

Qualifications & Requirements 

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant associate degree program. 

• Licensure: Current state PTA license or certification. 

• Experience: A min of 1 year work experience required 

• Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire 

• Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, physical stamina to assist and lift patients, and reliability within a fast-paced hospital or clinical
